NYO Canada Wins The Ontario Arts Council’s 2019 Vida Peene Award

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been award the 2019 Vida Peene Award from the Ontario Arts Council.

The Vida Peene Orchestra Award is given out biennially to assist Ontario orchestras. OAC administers the jury process for this award.

The award is named in honour of Vida Peene, a Hamilton-based arts patron, whose remarkable legacy continues to support the arts in Ontario and Canada.

The award alternates between professional and community-based orchestras. Past recipients include the Georgian Bay Symphony (2017) and the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra & Chamber Choir (2015).

The $10,000 award will be presented during the first stop of The Frenergy Tour (a collaboration with the European Union Youth Orchestra) at Toronto’s Koerner Hall on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.

You can read more about the award on the Ontario Arts Council’s website.
