Your support helps Canada’s best and brightest young musicians participate in the nation’s orchestral finishing school. The mission of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYO Canada) is to recruit the best young classical musicians from across the country and prepare them for careers as professional orchestral musicians.

All donations over $20 are fully tax-deductible. You will receive a full tax-receipt for the amount of your donation via the post or email depending on your method of donation and preferred method of communication.

Yes. You can become a donor as part of any of our giving programs at any time of the year and will be entitled to receive donor benefits for a full calendar year starting on the date of your donation. The NYO concert season typically runs from June to August.

NYO Canada is a registered charity (charitable registration number #107764557RR001) and your gift may be eligible for a corporate matching-gift program. Please check with your employer to see if your gift can be matched.

An endowment is a fund made up of donations that are invested into assets, the returns of which we use to fund our tours and training institute.

Our goal is to build a nest egg in the next decade by investing $10,000,000 into our endowment through fundraising activities and investing accumulated surpluses. Should we be able to achieve this result, NYO Canada would be able to virtually “count on” $300,000 in interest income each year, once we have achieved the target. This interest income will allow us to fully fund our tour and institute, ensuring the continuity of the National Youth Orchestra for another 60 years!

Please refer to our Ways To Give page which outlines the ways you can arrange Planned, Legacy, life insurance or RRSP/RRIF gifts

Monthly donors are receipted annually. You should receive your cumulative tax receipt every January or February for all donations made in the previous calendar year. Please contact info@nyoc.org with any additional questions.

Please contact info@nyoc.org with your full name and ideally either the date or amount of your donation and we will be happy to issue you a new tax receipt either by mail or email, whichever you prefer.

Please allow 2 business days to receive your emailed tax receipt or one week to receive a mailed tax receipt. If you haven’t heard from us by then, email info@nyoc.org or call 416-532-4470 Ext. 225, and we will get your tax receipt to you right away.

In recognition of your contribution, you will receive an invitation to performances in your area and a semi-annual newsletter with the full list of donor events available during the concert season. We will also send you communications throughout the year with information about upcoming events. Most event notifications are sent via email, so please let us know if you have updated your email address.

Donors above the $1000 level are offered two tickets to the concert of their choice. Otherwise, donors are responsible for purchasing their own concert tickets and beverages.

Donor privileges, including invitations to donor events, are extended to a donor household (two people) or to a donor plus one guest. But in reality the number of people you can bring to an event is only limited by the number of tickets you would like to buy, all NYO concerts are priced to make classical music accessible to all Canadians, not just those who can afford to donate.
