NYO Canada Completes Major Digitization Project

with support from Library and Archives Canada

The National Youth Orchestra of Canada is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the project “Preserving the Sounds of Canada: Digitizing the National Youth Orchestra of Canada’s Audio Archives.”

This initiative was made possible through funding from the Documentary Heritage Communities Program (DHCP), administered by Library and Archives Canada (LAC).

Project Highlights:

  • Preservation: We have successfully digitized 47 analog audio reels and 1 rare record, safeguarding these physical assets from deterioration.
  • Accessibility: What was once locked in a physical vault is now available to the world.
  • Completion: The catalogue has been fully processed and published online.

We acknowledge and thank the Government of Canada and Library and Archives Canada for their commitment to preserving our country’s documentary heritage. Their support allows us to share the rich musical legacy of our alumni with the public.
