NYO Canada Remembers – Victor Feldbrill

Canadian conductor and great supporter of Canadian music Victor Feldbrill has passed away – aged 96.

Our condolences are with his family, friends, students and colleagues.

As a passionate supporter of Canadian talent, he furthered the careers of many young Canadian musicians and composers.  We at NYO are deeply saddened by his passing and are grateful to have known this wonderfully accomplished conductor, teacher, and mentor as a part of The National Youth Orchestra of Canada.

He served as resident conductor, for NYO Canada from 1960-1964 and in 1969 and 1975.

He was the founder of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and served as the first Conductor-in-Residence at the University of Toronto’s Music Department from 1968-1982. He was resident conductor, assistant conductor, and section violinist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO), and was the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) principal conductor from 1958-68.
