About Matthew Plexman

Photographer Matthew Plexman has been working with medium and large format photography for 30 years. His Toronto studio serves as a flexible space that can accommodate full service photography production, events, and art exhibits. Plexman studied Photographic Arts at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, graduating in 1980.

NYO Canada’s 2017 tour artwork originated as a series of images taken on Matthew’s various travels to some of Canada’s more rugged areas. They build upon and continue his series "PERIPHERAL VISION - AT THE EDGE OF CANADA". Images in this series include panoramic landscapes of the Dempster Highway in the Yukon and Northwest Territories, as well as images from Newfoundland, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.  He is currently working on a body of work entitled “CLEARCUT”.

NYO Canada selected six of these stunning images to represent each of the regions the Orchestra will visit on its cross-Canada tour, reflecting the unique and diverse environments that make up our vast country.
