Age / âge

Why did you choose your instrument / Pourquoi avez-vous choisi cet instrument ?
I apparently begged my parents to play the violin at a very young age after hearing a recording of Sarah Chang but never really got around to starting lessons until I was 8.

What are your professional goals? / Décrivez quelques-unes de vos ambitions professionnelles.
I would love to be a professional violinist in the near future and get a chance to play solo with any professional orchestra in the world.

How do you feel you will benefit from participation in NYO Canada? / Comment pensez-vous que votre participation à NYO Canada puisse vous aider?
From participating in NYOC last year I realized how much it opened up my appreciation for orchestral music and playing part of an amazing orchestra. I feel from participating in NYOC it will further develop my skills to play as a group and allow me to appreciate orchestral music more.

What are your interests outside classical music / Avez-vous d’autres intérêts à part la musique classique ?
Other than classical music I enjoy sketching/drawing objects and photography.

Who is your favourite classical musician? / Quel est votre artiste (classique) préféré ?
Sarah Chang

Who is your favourite non-classical musician? / Quel est votre artiste (non classique) préféré ?

What has recently played on your Mp3? / Qu’écoutez-vous ces jours-ci sur votre Mp3?
Korngold Violin Concerto

If you weren't touring with NYO Canada what would you be doing with your summer? / Si vous ne faisiez pas partie de NYO Canada que feriez-vous cet été?
If i hadn't made it into NYOC again I would have gotten a summer job and done some traveling with friends since it's the last time I will be seeing them before heading off to different universities.

What is there about you that you think people might be surprised to know? / Y a-t-il quelque chose à votre propos qui est un peu surprenant ou hors de l’ordinaire?
I enjoy playing sports such as badminton (not sure if that is a surprise since I am asian...). But most people don't see me as someone who would enjoy playing sports since they never see me go near them in the fear of injuring my arms/wrist/hand.

For returning members: What is your fondest memory from a previous session and/or tour? / Pour participants vétérans: Quels sont vos souvenirs préférés de la session ou tournée précédente de NYO Canada?
The session went by so fast it is really hard to just pick a memory since everything that happened last year with chamber/rehearsals/tours all happened so quick.
