Larry Larson

Trumpet

Larry Larson has been Principal Trumpet of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony since 1993.  He has served as the Trumpet and Brass Coach for NYOCanada since 2007. He enjoys a varied career which includes leading his own jazz quintet “Larry’s Jazz Guys,” performing duo recitals with harpist Lori Gemmell, playing in the orchestra at the Stratford Festival, and recording commercial jingles and soundtracks. With the KWS, Larry has given the world premiere performances of trumpet concertos by John Estacio and Scott Good. He is a member of Andrew Burashko’s “Art Of Time Ensemble,” with whom he has toured and recorded across North America. Larry has recorded two CDs with the Canadian Brass, and has performed in supporting orchestras for Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Brian Wilson, Jann Arden, Roger Hodgson, among others. He is also honoured to be a member of the Canadian National Brass Project, with several other NYOCanada faculty members.
