An active orchestral musician, Isabelle Fortier joined l’Orchestre Symphonique de Québec as Principal Harpist in 2004. Throughout her orchestral career she has performed in the United States and in Europe, where she took part in the Festival Dei Due Muondi in Italy.


She has appeared as guest soloist with l’Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Les Violons du Roy, the San Antonio Symphony, l’Orchestre Symphonique de Longueil and Sinfonia de Lanaudière.


A devoted performer of chamber music, she is a founding member of Trio Beausoir, an ensemble whose recordings have received critical praise. Her eclectic talent has been been appreciated in performances ranging from theater (La Bordée) to live improvisation at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec

A Quebec City native, Isabelle Fortier graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and pursued her studies with Judy Loman in Toronto. A grant from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec enabled her to join the Chicago Civic Orchestra where she pursued her orchestral training under world renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostropovich and Daniel Barenboim.


Ms Fortier is a dedicated teacher at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, Université Laval and Cégep de Ste-Foy. She has been a faculty member of the orchestral academy at the Orford Arts Centre and her expertise has been called upon as a member of numerous juries, including the OSM-Standard Life Competition.
