5. Why did you choose your instrument / Pourquoi avez-vous choisi cet instrument ?
I heard a classmate play violin at "Show and Tell" and was immediately drawn to the instrument. A few years went by before my parents let me begin lessons. I chose to play the viola after participating in a summer quartet camp which did not have enough viola players so I was happy to try something new. I ended up liking the viola so much that I decided to change my focus and have been extremely happy with my choice.
6. What are your professional goals? / Décrivez quelques-unes de vos ambitions professionnelles.
I will be attending McGill University in the fall of 2010 to pursue a career in music performance. I am hoping to join several groups (such as orchestras quartets ensembles and bands) to experience as much music as I can. I would like to develop as a musician and person while enjoying the work that I will be doing. Eventually I would like to play in a symphony orchestra and perform with a variety of groups with different musical genres. I also hope to learn more about composition and develop my writing skills.
9. How do you feel you will benefit from participation in the NYOC? / Comment pensez-vous que votre participation à lONJC puisse vous aider?
I am very excited to travel with such a prestigious orchestra. I look forward to the very high level of instruction on my instrument both on a personal level and also within the orchestra. I particularly like playing with such an energetic and enthusiastic group of musicians and hope that I am inspired to rise to new levels. I will benefit from participating in the NYOC from playing with people who enjoy music as much as I do. I will also meet many brilliant musicians who will push me to do my best in everything that I do.
What are your interests outside classical music / Avez-vous d’autres intérêts à part la musique classique ?
I have been very fascinated with graphic design for the past few years and am always trying to explore new kinds of design. I also like all team sports especially basketball and ultimate frisbee. I enjoy spending time with my friends canoeing camping and longboarding.

Cannonball-Damien Rice and Max Reger's viola Suite in G Minor.
If you weren't touring with the NYOC what would you be doing with your summer? / Si vous ne faisiez pas partie de l' ONJC que feriez-vous cet été?
I would most be likely searching for a summer job that would keep me busy. I would try to develop my skills at composing and perhaps take some music theory courses. Ultimately I would try to be playing the viola as much as possible while spending time outside of the house with my friends.
What is there about you that you think people might be surprised to know? / Y a-t-il quelque chose à votre propos qui est un peu surprenant ou hors de l’ordinaire?
I was born in Canberra Australia but have not been able to return there yet. I hope to revisit Australia in the future. When I was in the 4th grade I lived in Vienna for 4 months while my father was on sabbatical. I have played the violin viola double bass mandolin guitar banjo djembe french horn and piano. I am constantly searching for new instruments to try out.
For returning members: What is your fondest memory from a previous session and/or tour? / Pour participants vétérans: Quels sont vos souvenirs préférés de la session ou tournée précédente de l' ONJC?
I have had several amazing memories from my previous two tours with the NYOC. One of my favourite memories was exploring Quebec City with my friends during a festival. I have also enjoyed playing in a variety of concert halls with the orchestra. I have several great memories of playing ultimate frisbee with the musicians and staff outside. In addition being part of the webcast concert from last year's session was a highlight.
