Why did you choose your instrument / Pourquoi avez-vous choisi cet instrument ?
I played the recorder as a child and my parents thought that it would be a good idea to progress on to the clarinet.

What are your professional goals? / Décrivez quelques-unes de vos ambitions professionnelles.
I hope to get a job with a professional orchestra and play chamber music on a regular basis. Teaching at the college level is also a possibility.

How do you feel you will benefit from participation in NYO Canada? / Comment pensez-vous que votre participation à NYO Canada puisse vous aider?
The NYOC offers me the opportunity to play great repertoire with a world-class conductor and the best musicians in Canada. The knowledge and experience that the faculty members provide is invaluable for my career as an musician and teacher. Plus NYOC is an excellent opportunity for me to get to know my potential future colleagues (and competitors) very well. ;)

What are your interests outside classical music / Avez-vous d’autres intérêts à part la musique classique ?
I enjoy military history (particularly WWII) mystery novels mystery TV shows (especially British series) photography and anything to do with computers. I am a huge European football fan and I try to keep up with the news and watch as many matches as possible.

Who is your favourite classical musician? / Quel est votre artiste (classique) préféré ?
I enjoy listening to Sabine Meyer and Martin Frost.

Who is your favourite non-classical musician? / Quel est votre artiste (non classique) préféré ?
I like the music of Robbie Williams among many others.

What has recently played on your Mp3? / Qu’écoutez-vous ces jours-ci sur votre Mp3?
A lot of European pop music mostly of Slavic origin.

If you weren't touring with NYO Canada what would you be doing with your summer? / Si vous ne faisiez pas partie de NYO Canada que feriez-vous cet été?
I would probably be doing another summer music festival or working.

What is there about you that you think people might be surprised to know? / Y a-t-il quelque chose à votre propos qui est un peu surprenant ou hors de l’ordinaire?
I get asked quite often if I play basketball and people are always surprised when I say no.

For returning members: What is your fondest memory from a previous session and/or tour? / Pour participants vétérans: Quels sont vos souvenirs préférés de la session ou tournée précédente de NYO Canada?
There were many memorable moments but one that stands out is playing under Sir Andrew Davis for the final concert at Roy Thomson Hall during the 2008 tour. The US tour to New York and Vermont from that year was great too.
