Why did you choose your instrument / Pourquoi avez-vous choisi cet instrument ?
I used to play piano but I was a bit frustrated because it was not portable and was difficult to play in chamber music. I was at a music camp one summer and my mom told me to see if there was any other instrument I'd like to play. I saw one of the teachers there an excellent violinist in a performance and decided that it was the right instrument for me.
What are your professional goals? / Décrivez quelques-unes de vos ambitions professionnelles.
I would like to some day play in a professional symphony orchestra such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. I would also be happy teaching.
How do you feel you will benefit from participation in NYO Canada? / Comment pensez-vous que votre participation à NYO Canada puisse vous aider?
The NYOC is a great place to gain the orchestral experience that is essential in realizing my goals. I will get to work with a prestigious conductor perfect difficult and useful repertoire all while being surrounded by like-minded musicians. These people will likely become friends acquaintances and colleagues in the future.
What are your interests outside classical music / Avez-vous d’autres intérêts à part la musique classique ?
I enjoy playing klezmer music and am a member of a klezmer band. I am open to trying different musical styles. Outside of the music word entirely I enjoy biking and cross-country skiing as well as learning to speak different languages. I speak French I have taken some Spanish courses and hope to learn German soon.

If you weren't touring with NYO Canada what would you be doing with your summer? / Si vous ne faisiez pas partie de NYO Canada que feriez-vous cet été?
I didn't make any alternate plans but I probably would have taken the summer to work on technique and would have most likely gone to a music camp. Also I am a member of the Montreal Youth Orchestra and they are taking part in a festival in Quebec City this summer.
What is there about you that you think people might be surprised to know? / Y a-t-il quelque chose à votre propos qui est un peu surprenant ou hors de l’ordinaire?
I am red-green colour blind. I don't see in black and white I just don't see those colours well and for this reason have trouble identifying some colours. Also many people are surprised to know that I used to play trumpet.
For returning members: What is your fondest memory from a previous session and/or tour? / Pour participants vétérans: Quels sont vos souvenirs préférés de la session ou tournée précédente de NYO Canada?
I could go on for the longest time about how great my experience was last summer but instead I will simply say that most of my fondest memories have to do with hanging out with the wonderful friends that I made during the session and tour. Whenever we weren't rehearsing we played cards ultimate frisbee ping pong or just talked amongst each other. It was so easy to get along with one another and it was a lot of fun.
